Welcome to our site, the original home of low cost motorcycle dirt track racing. A group of Northern California flat track racers got the idea for a new entry level class. In 2007 they made it a reality and it quickly caught on.
Although the original Junkyard class was created and now runs at Northern California AMA District 36 tracks, there's no reason it couldn't work anywhere in the world. We welcome you to contact us and we'll share what we've learned and how we run our races.
Low Cost:
The rules call for older, air-cooled, four-stroke bikes up to 250cc that don't cost much and are easy to ride. For under $500 you can go racing!
It's An Entry Point
Junkyard 250 is the perfect place for a young teenager to get their start in dirt track racing. For many, the class is the perfect launching pad. Who knows, the next Chris Carr might come from the ranks of junk.
It's A Landing Place
Many middle-aged and senior riders have found it to be a way to keep racing without getting too serious.
Fun For Family, Riders & Spectators
The age spread is broad,
so it's even a place where parents can race with their kids. Staggered
starts in the main event put fast riders way in the back (up to 3/4 lap) so they have to race through the pack. Even the slowest riders can be in the lead (maybe not for long!). This class is a favorite of fans and announcers. Many riders wear crazy gear and do rattle-can pimp outs of their bikes.
